The aim of the research is to improve the elements of growing technology for chickpea in the southern Ukraine. The impact of different depth of tillage, doses of mineral fertilizers, planting rates, and moisture conditions on plant development was studied. Economic evaluation for the elements of growing technology for chickpea was done. Field experiments were conducted in 2012-2014 at the farm “Radyanska zemlya”, Belozerskiy district, the Kherson region. During the research the patterns of change for main indicators of economic efficiency depending on the combination of the studied elements of growing technology for chickpea were obtained. It was established that profit and profitability increase at irrigation comparing with rainfed conditions. In average over the research years the greatest net income from chickpea growing for grain under irrigation was 17886 hryvnia per hectare. It was obtained at moldboard tillage to a depth of 28-30 cm, dose of mineral fertilizers N 90P 90, and planting rate 1.5 million seeds per hectare; and for rainfed conditions - 8108 hryvnia per hectare at planting rate 1.0 million seeds per hectare and the same fertilizer dose. The variant, where chick-pea was growing under irrigation at applying dose of mineral fertilizers N 45P 45, moldboard tillage to a depth of 28-30 cm and planting rate 0.5 million seeds per hectare, provided the highest level of profitability, 171.6 %.
