The aim of the article is to analyze modern approaches to the formation of an innovative model of building a financial mechanism for higher education and determine its effectiveness in the context of global changes in the global educational space. The article considers the peculiarities of financing higher education establishments. It is noted that an innovative approach to the organization and financing of educational activities can provide an adequate response to current challenges of the global labor market. Scientific and methodological approach to the formation of the financial mechanism of higher education establishments is a complex and dynamic system, the practical implementation of which contributes to the efficient allocation and use of available financial resources and ensures high quality educational services. The basis for building the financial mechanism of the higher education system is the principle of strategic orientation, which requires the development of a strategy for the organization of financial relations, which will ensure the effective functioning of the higher education system in accordance with socio-economic priorities of society. The new system of financing higher education should put an end to the financing of low-quality higher education in state and municipal higher education establishments and support quality education in those private establishments that are able to provide quality higher education.
