Короткий опис(реферат):
The article discusses the transformation of the English language study for psychology students from a supplementary skill (soft skill) to a fundamental professional competence (hard skill). The author argues that, in the context of the dynamic development of psychological science, where over 90% of basic research is published in English, language proficiency becomes a crucial tool for professional legitimisation and integration into the global scientific community. This study aims to demonstrate that the English language enhances the training of bachelor’s-level psychologists through specific tools that contribute to this process as effectively as possible.
Particular attention is paid to the concept of English for Specific Purposes, which enables the optimisation of learning by analysing the specific needs of future professionals. The work identifies and analyses four key tools for shaping the professional position of the bachelor: academic reading, which provides access to unfiltered knowledge and original works; mastery of the terminological apparatus, which guarantees “terminological sovereignty” and a deep understanding of concepts; the study of international APA Style standards, which are considered a “professional code” for the ethical and competent presentation of research results; professional networking and digital socialisation through platforms like LinkedIn and ResearchGate, which overcome geographical isolation and form a global identity for the specialist.
The article describes practical teaching methods (case studies, the “Shadowing” method, Abstract Detective, etc) that help overcome language barriers and develop critical thinking. It has been proven that using English as a mediator between academic knowledge and practice enables future psychologists to appeal to global standards and become competitive in the international labour market.
The prospects for scientific research lie in exploring the emotional dimensions of learning, particularly through the analysis of the interaction between feelings of satisfaction, anxiety, and boredom, which can serve as a “live case” for professional reflection for future psychologists. Additionally, it is advisable to study the role of modern digital tools in accelerating the mastery of the terminological apparatus and enhancing the quality of work preparation in accordance with APA Style requirements.
