Biologiczno-hodovlana charakteristyka tarlakow wieslonosa Polyodon spatula (Walb.) na tle problemow zwiazanych z udomowieniem gatuncu w warunkach gospodarstw ribackich Ukraini

Abstract

The article discusses the results of the first studies of paddlefish Polyodon spatula (Walb.) domestication in the conditions of fish farms in the south of Ukraine. The research was carried out by the Department of Fish Farming of the Kherson State Agrarian University in 2001-2003. We studied the fishery performance of male and female paddlefish, which were raised in the ponds of the Dnieper sturgeon plant. Paddlefish Polyodon spatula (Walb.) females weighed 16-25 kg, males 8.5-14 kg. The fecundity of female paddlefish was in the range of 46,000-200,000 eggs. Fertilization of eggs was 70-90%. The created broodstock had high economic conditions.
