Abstract:
Modern teaching methods, coupled with rapid technological advancements enable educators to leverage a wide range of online and mobile applications. When integrated effectively into English as a Foreign Language instruction, Information and Communication Technology significantly boosts vocabulary acquisition and enhances overall learning results.
The subject of the paper is the theoretical foundations and practical insights for English learning with the help of Quizlet. The purpose of the study is to systematically analyze the theoretical and practical foundations for the effectiveness of using Quizlet, highlighting both Ukrainian and foreign experiences. This paper is structured as follows: the first part – identifying Quizlet as a digital platform that facilitates interactive learning experiences as well as its characteristics and functions, the second one – describing international applications of this field from various angles and the third section is a domestic perspective with a focus on three experimental projects.
The topicality of the article is caused by the necessity to analyze and synthesize the scientific achievements of two groups of scientists (domestic and foreign) in this field to outline their opinions and attitudes to the usage of Quizlet in English classes and to prove that this platform with spaced repetition techniques can be highly beneficial for non-linguistic students.
A large volume of information in a reader-friendly format highlighting the effectiveness of Quizlet’s use has been compiled. Its key research areas have been presented. It has been stated that both foreign and domestic scientists emphasize the challenges and difficulties students face while mastering and working with Quizlet on the one hand. On the other hand, they are highly motivated and evaluate this tool.
Future work will concentrate on describing my own practical experience of using Quizlet in English lessons with the students of Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University focusing on the matters of motivation, challenges, difficulties and students’ attitudes to the effectiveness of using Quizlet.
