Abstract

A study of environmental effects on sow productivity has shown that housing conditions may or may not reveal the genetic potential of animals. A comparative assessment of the reproductive qualities of sows on industrial complexes was carried out, taking into account the number of farrowings. The analysis showed that sows with different numbers of farrowings have different indicators of live weight, body length, multifertility and nest weight at the time of weaning. Random factors have the greatest influence on reproductive qualities, and the genetic influence turned out to be insignificant. Low heritabilities were found for fecundity and nestling weight at weaning. Therefore, the created optimal conditions in the farm contribute to the long-term manifestation of the genetic characteristics of sows.
