Today, malaria, the causative agent of which is the protozoa of the genus Plasmodium, causes great harm to the humankind, leading to major case fatality rate. During globalization, the geographical proximity of Ukraine to malaria endemic countries, annual imported cases, favorable landscape and climatic conditions, create the preconditions for a possible outbreak and spread of malaria in the southern regions of Ukraine. Global climate change contributes to the expansion of the pathogen nosoarea, which poses a real threat to the return of infection to Europe.
Mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles are specific carriers of malaria.
The misconception of malaria mosquitoes, as carriers, is of great importance. The weakening of epidemiological alertness for malaria has led to a decline in attention to the study of the mosquitoes.
The study was conducted to determine the species composition, expansion, biotope distribution, seasonal dynamics of the number of types of malaria mosquitoes, capable of transmitting it in the south of Ukraine. |
