General overview of fisheries activities in small reservoirs in southern Ukraine

Abstract

The relevance of the study is due to the growing role of small reservoirs in ensuring food security and the development of the fisheries sector of Ukraine in the context of limited natural resources and climate change. Of particular importance is the analysis of the state and dynamics of fish catch in small reservoirs of southern Ukraine, which are characterized by favorable natural and climatic conditions and high potential for the development of fisheries. At the same time, the instability of catch indicators, as well as the impact of global warming, necessitate a rethinking of approaches to the management of aquatic bioresources. Increasing environmental challenges and the need to preserve biodiversity make the implementation of the principles of sustainable and environmentally safe fisheries relevant.
