Abstract:
Special studies were conducted in some areas of the Lower Dnieper and the Dnieper-Bug estuary. The research material was pike perch of different age groups. In sampling and subsequent analysis, the methods commonly used in fisheries research were used. The main morphological and biological indicators of their Dnieper pikeperch herd were carefully analyzed, the dynamics of linear growth and body weight growth were considered, the sex and age composition of the population were determined, feeding peculiarities and reproductive potentials of the herd were considered, the population was analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the presence of older fish in the population of 7 - 12% at the highest rate of linear growth and body weight growth of males and females in the first years of puberty at the age of four - five years with a subsequent decrease growth rate in older age groups. It was proposed to resume work on the installation of artificial "nests" to improve the spawning conditions of pike perch, and to reduce the industrial pressure on the younger part of the herd to increase the pitch of the mesh cell for pike perch fishing to 80 - 85 mm.
